North Carolina Iota's origin traces back to a local fraternity, Sigma Rho Phi, which was founded in 1954. However, on April 26, 1958, this local fraternity officially joined Sigma Phi Epsilon and became known as the NC Iota Chapter. Throughout the chapter's illustrious and storied history, there have been over 740 brothers who have joined the hallow halls of NC Iota and joined an elite network of brothers. Today, the current chapter house is located at 606 Nash St. NE, and NC Iota strives on the development and growth of its members at Barton College and helps develop brothers into dignified SigEp Men.
NC Iota has owned two houses in Wilson since merging with Sigma Phi Epsilon. Both of them were located on the historical Nash Street. The first house was located at 701 W. Nash Street, just across from our current house. In the late 70's it was labeled as unsafe to live, more than 100 years after it was first built. In 1980, NC Iota Householding Corporation purchased a new house for its members at 606 Nash Street, which is still the chapter house of Barton SigEps.
