Due to COVID-19 and state-wide quarantine policies, NC Iota has been forced to cancel 62nd Founders Day. The decision was not made lightly, but we had to follow the state and county rules and procedures. Our priority has always been and always will be to ensure that our members and alumni stay healthy and safe.
To have interaction with the alumni, little sisters, and brothers that did return home, active brothers that still live in the house decided to host a first-ever Virtual Founders Day. “It was a hard decision to cancel the Founders Day, but we found a way how to make the most out of the day and include alumni into it too”, said Andrew Jenkins who is VP of Programming. The virtual event was announced two weeks in advance and was streamed using Facebook Live in the NC Iota alumni group. We had a Q&A session, tour of the house, (virtual) cookout, people had a chance to share their favorite memories from back in the day, and we held an award ceremony. New brother of the year Award landed in the hands of a Freshmen, Andrew Jenkins, who is also the VP of Programming, while Jaksa Gabric, active chapters President, and Freddy Massimi, alumni advisor, both secured their awards of Brother of the Year and Alumni of the Year for the second year in the row. The live stream was made available as a video for people who missed it, and brothers made a 360 tour of the house so alumni can feel as if they were with us on that special day as they could explore every corner of the house and inspect their composites.
The SigEp house at 606 Nash Street will remain open to all the brothers who wish to live or continue living there for the duration of the summer, as long as procedures to ensure the wellbeing of the brothers and the community are being followed.
